Peter Cooperrider, M.D. is a graduate
of the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed
an internship and residency at the Cleveland Clinic specializing
in dermatology. He has been in private practice as a Board
Certified dermatologist in Kirkland, Washington since
1977. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology
and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Since 1993, Dr. Cooperrider has had
an intense interest in dermatologic laser surgery, and received
early training in this area at Harvard and Indiana University
courses, as well as at the American Academy of Dermatology
in Washington, DC, and with private practice physicians
in California. In early 1994 he introduced the Pacific Northwest
to in-office high energy pulsed laser skin resurfacing,
and now many doctors are performing it. Not content to develop
just one technique, his knowledge and experience has grown
in every aspect of cosmetic laser surgery including treatment
of wrinkles, scars, spider veins, birthmarks, brown spots,
tattoos, and hair removal. Most recently he has concentrated
on new, comfortable, "no down time" methods of wrinkle treatment
and skin rejuvenation.
After starting as a pioneer and helping
to develop many of these treatments, Dr. Cooperrider has
lectured about lasers on five continents (North America,
Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa) and taught several doctors
from South America in his office, leaving only Antarctica
untouched by his influence! (He says that if he is invited
there, he will go.) High tech medicine has enabled him to
combine his two passions, technology and patient care, into
a dynamic practice unique in the Northwest. Laser physicists
and computer programmers, as well as companies developing
new dermatology treatments consult him.
In order to have patients with dermatology
problems seen in a timely manner, he has adopted an approach
similar to a university, in which he trains technicians,
RNs, Medical Assistants, and Estheticians in the use of
many of the cosmetic procedures utilized at the Laser Treatment
Centers. He also utilizes Certified Physician Assistants
and Nurse Practitioners, known as mid-level providers, in
the science and skills of dermatology and laser techniques,
and is readily available when paged to consult in any aspect
of patient care. He has a team of 25 members whose goal
is to see that patients are taken care of in a way that
makes them want to refer their best friends to our care.
It is an exciting time to be sharing this adventure. That's
why one of Dr. Cooperrider's comments to his staff has been
"Is it Friday already?!!"
